Tim brings us up to date with progress with the boys. Stallion Senior has made good progress and can even handle the plastic bag on a stick treatment without much flinching

How did they get here?

Kate and Tim's stallions were initially delivered to some nearby yards along with some other stallions. After their long journey to Northland it was fortunate that it didn't take long for them to get into the float to get to their new home. It wasn't all plain sailing but they figured it out quickly enough!

The new 'two stick' technique

6/8/2014

It's new and exciting and it's called the 'two stick' technique. Yup with a tea towel on one stick and a towel on the other, Tim has started a whole new taming technique. Stallion Senior has proved to be a little more afraid of the towels but this video shows what great progress he has made in under a week (footage shot on Thursday 5 May).

And Kate makes contact, very successfully!

Stallion Junior is coming along really nicely and seems to be quite curious. He's reaching out, and Kate's right there for him. Kate suspects that this is the younger of the two stallions she and Tim are training, and that the older stallion may even be Junior's dad.

Tim makes contact with the youngest of our two stallions... he's a pretty friendly guy. This footage was taken a week after they first arrived

    Kate & Tim's Kaimanawas

Kate Hewlett and Tim Featherstone are taking part in the Stallion Challenge and Stallion Makeover which is organised by Kaimanawa Heritage Horses.

They were lucky enough to get two lovely looking boys who arrived at Kate's on 29 May 2014.

Watch their progress from their arrival at Kate's Riding Centre to their debut at Equidays and grand entrance at Horse of the Year 2015. It will be a wild ride!
